Sow seeds 5 mm deep in rich, well-drained soil or seed trays. Germination in 5–10 days at 18–25°C.
- 2
Thin or transplant seedlings to 30–45 cm apart once they have 3–4 true leaves. Containers should be at least 25–30 cm deep.
- 3
Give full sun to partial shade. In Thailand, grow during the cool season or in a spot with afternoon shade.
- 4
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Mulch the base to retain moisture and keep roots cool.
- 5
Feed every 2–3 weeks with balanced fertilizer or compost tea for lush, colorful leaves.
- 6
Begin harvesting young leaves at 30–40 days; mature harvest at 50–70 days. Pick outer leaves and let the center keep growing for continuous harvests.
